Beware of Scam Water Testing & Filtration Marketing Tactics
We have become aware that a company is again engaged in a marketing practice that involves sending test kits to Water Authority customers and attempting to schedule appointments. The kit may come with instructions to fill up the vial with water and put it back outside for a free water test.
In addition, we have been told that some customers have received texts and calls from at least one company that told them that their water is "bad" and were further advised to purchase their company's water filtering units.
ABOUT THIS MARKETING TACTIC
The Water Authority is not affiliated with these filtering companies in any way. While we believe purchasing these types of systems is a personal decision, we do want our customers to know that the quality of the water service that we deliver to customers meets all federal and state primary drinking water standards, and there is no need to be concerned about the quality of your water. Also, if you do decide to use a home treatment device, it is important that you adhere to the manufacturer instructions for maintaining the device. Homeowners who choose not to follow the recommended instructions properly could reduce the effectiveness of these devices and end up with lower quality water.

Proposed New Environmental Protection Agency Standards regarding PFA's
We applaud the Environmental Protection Agency's commitment to protect public health with this strong proposal. As key stakeholders in this process, we will study the proposal closely and plan to provide direct feedback as requested by the EPA. Once the standard is finalized, we are committed to meeting it. And, we will continue our efforts in court to hold the polluters responsible for the presence of these PFA's in our groundwater and for the high costs of removing them.
